In reply to Amitava Dasgupta. Yes Amitava, I am also eagerly waiting for the Bishnupur temples to get a world heritage tag. They really deserve that inscription. Thanks for adding information about Snakha and Snakharis.

Loving your detailed posts on our very own Bishnupur. It needs to be popularized beyond Bengal as it awaits a UNESCO World Heritage status. One point to mention ..the conch shell bangles are called “Snakha” and the artists who craft these articles are called “Snakharis”. Snakha is traditionally worn by married women in Bengal and is a symbol of their “Marital Status” between unmarried to widow phase along with the “Sindur”.
