I usually watch travel programs on TV. But your blog is as good as watching a program. Filled with beautiful pictures, anecdotes, your personal feelings, pieces of valuable information etc. Love reading your blogs and feel inspired to travel and explore and experience places the way do instead of just visit for vacation..

I will definitely check out this film – I love showcasing India to the whole world, as I discover it layer by layer.

The tales from yore weave the fabric of this city. I love the way you capture the novelty in the mundane things – which we have seen always around us and taken for granted. I am not sure if you are a movie buff, but a recent hit movie called Praktan is about the story of a city guide who takes immense pride in showing people his city! You might want to watch the subtitles version if you are keen!

But if you refer to the book Fort William: Calcutta’s Crowning Glory By M. L. Augustin, you will note on Pg: 157- The Fifth House: A large building in Esplanade belonging to Mohammad Reza Khan, a wealthy and powerful native of Murshidabad.

Thank you Enakshi – that is a lovely name to have. There is lot more Kolkata that I need to explore. Have a long list of areas to walk around as and when the city calls me back.

Some of the localities like Maniktala and Bagbazaar are also old localities of Kolkata. They can be pretty interesting and have scope for great photography 🙂

Thank you Dr Majumdar. Yes, I did this walk in about 4 hours – 6-10 AM to be precise. I take longer to walk as I stop to take pictures, read histories. You do need some stamina to walk.

Many thanks. Hailing from Kolkata I have seen all these heritage landmarks.
However, is it possible to physically walk through all these paces in one single morning?
