Stay At WelcomHotel, Vadodara, Gujarat

Tired after exploring various things in Vadodara, we reached WelcomHotel where we were staying. As we stepped into the lobby, soothing music relaxed our nerves. Instead of rushing to our room, we sat in the lobby and started enjoying the live music being played by two gentlemen sitting on the floor. One of them had 30 odd big and small bowls filled with water and by playing with bamboo sticks he was producing music.

Technically this setup is called Jal Tarang. A tabla player gave company to Sh Suryakant who was playing with water. I was like a child when I saw him adjusting the water in his bowls after every song for the next Raga that he would play. Music at Lounge

What I have always admired about ITC group hotels is that they make a conscious effort to promote local art forms and artisans. At WelcomHotel Vadodara every evening traditional artisans come and perform.

There are paintings on the walls and curio’s in the lobby that remind you what you must not miss when you are in Gujarat.

Located next door to the railway station, bang in the middle of the city i.e. the heart of the business district. And not too far from any of the tourist attractions – this was a good choice to stay. It is a typical business hotel that serves Indian and International cuisine and Gujarati food on demand. The rooms are luxurious though I thought the bathrooms could do with a little improvement. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I was told this hotel has the honor of being the first five-star property in Gujarat. And it lives up to that honor.

  1. Sounding really nice and interesting. The texture of the hotel in the snaps seems to be luxurious. Really nice. The gujarati food like dhokla and all are mouth watery. The review is just perfect thank u so much for the share.
